Annotation An inquiry that focused on the characteristics and motivations of volunteers working with children and youth was carried out in November 2002 and covered a sample of 256 respondents – volunteers from divers NGOs and Leisure Time Centers (LTC) in the Czech Republic. As the inquiry disclosed, motivation for volunteering are mostly positive. 97 % of the respondents claimed to enjoy their work with children, i.e. possibility to be helpful (90%). Inquiry focused on questions what exactly motivates these people to work with children in their leisure time, what are their experience, motivations, attitudes and expectations and what is a content of their activities and how often they attend to it.
