Annotation | This thesis deals with parental ideas about school results of children before entering an elementary school. The objectives of this thesis are to map parental ideas and compare these ideas with ideas and opinions of teachers in kindergartens. This thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with the characteristics of preschool age, the characteristics of school age, the attitude of parents towards school attendance of their children, the school readiness, the postponement of school attendance and the family with a child emerging into primary school. The practical part is divided into a quantitative research and a qualitative research. The quantitative research is focused on parental ideas about school results of children before entering an elementary school. Parental ideas are compared with their experience with older children who attended primary school before. The qualitative research has a similar focus as the quantitative research. The qualitative research also maps parents’ concerns about their children’ entering to primary school and criteria by which parents choose elementary schools for their children. |
